Fact: Onions contain no fat

That’s true Onions are 89% water, 9% carbs, 1.7% fiber, only 0.3% is fat and protein. For a healthy life or diet, onions must have a place in your table. ( )
Raw Onions are also very low in calories, they contain only 40 calories per 100 grams which make them a good solution to decrease calories eaten per day.
Myth: Chewing-gum prevent crying during cutting onions
The real cause of crying during cutting onions is containing sulfuric acid derivatives, released while cutting onions and becomes by certain enzymes irritant gases to the eye. ( )
Scientifically, there is no chemical or biological substance in the gum prevent tears, nor any single scientific evidence prove that.
While there are some people claims that mashing gums helped them with this onion’s effect but it did not work with the majority at all!!

Fact: Consumption of onions may prevent gastric ulcers.

The Scotland's national health information service defines stomach ulcers (gastric ulcers) as: they are open sores that develop on the lining of the stomach. Ulcers can also occur in part of the intestine just beyond the stomach. These are called duodenal ulcers. 
Consumption of onions may prevent gastric ulcers by scavenging free radicals and by preventing growth of the ulcer-forming microorganism, Heliobacter pylori.
Myth: Onions Pregnancy Test
Ancient Greeks and Egyptians had a crazy idea to test the pregnancy of a woman! They suggested that the woman should put an onion in her vagina before sleeping, next day if her breath smelled like onions, it means that her womb is open which allows the onions odor to reach her mouth, the conclusion “she’s not pregnant!!”.
Contrariwise if her mouth smell normal that means that her womb is full and it’s closed which prevent the onion’s odor to reach her mouth and that means “she is pregnant”.

Fact: Onion breath can be freshened

Although there are many people claims that it is impossible to have a fresh breath after eating onions, well in fact you can! chewing on parsley, mint leaf or a few coffee grains will do that for you, eating apples, lettuce and drinking milk are also good solutions for this problem.
Myth: Placing Onions on Feet Really Cure Infections
The theory says that you can cut raw onions in slices put them in your socks then put the socks on, this can kill bacteria and cure lot of diseases such as flu. 
In fact, this is a completely myth, there are no scientific proof that onions have the ability to rid the human body of infections and cure flus or cold.

Fact: Onions provide lot of benefits for human body

Onions are magical! They do not only provide good flavor; they also provide lot and important benefits for human body.
Onions contain lot of vitamins: they are high in vitamin C which is needed for immune function and maintenance of skin and hair, they also contain vitamin B9 (folate), vitamin B6 and Potassium They also contain calcium and iron. 
Researches showed that onions are a good source of dietary fibers and folic acid, they also showed that onions have a high protein quality 
Myth: cut onions or leftover onions are poisonous
Some people think that cut onions or leftovers onions will be poisonous if they are not used in the same day, that claim because they think that onions are magnets for bacteria.
The good news is “this is also a myth”, onions can be stored in the refrigerator in a sealed container for up to 7 days after being cut according to the American National Onion Association.
